DRM Community Connection — November 2026

Written by DRM ILC | 11/1/2026

A Little Gratitude. A Little Connection. One More Step Forward.

November can fill the calendar before we have had a chance to catch our breath. This month, we are making room for connection, small wins and the people who help us keep going.

Welcome to the first website edition of DRM Community Connection—a monthly place for students, graduates, families, employers and neighbors to pause, learn something useful and enjoy a little personality. You do not need to be enrolled to pull up a chair.

Pull up a chair

Let us begin with an important community question: Which Thanksgiving dish deserves its own security detail? The macaroni and cheese? The dressing? Sweet potatoes? A family recipe with instructions that begin, “You just know when it looks right”?

Whether your November includes a large gathering, a quiet meal, a work shift or a different tradition, you are welcome here. There is no required holiday script.

Join the conversation: tell us your favorite dish by emailing info@drmilc.com. This is an optional email response, not a live voting poll. We are not displaying vote totals or publishing responses automatically. Please keep private family and health information out of your message.

The check-in that counts

Think of someone you would like to reconnect with this month. They may be a loved one, a former classmate, a neighbor or a person who helped you through a busy season. Ask how they are doing without deciding in advance how they should feel.

Try one specific offer: “Would a short call this weekend work?” “Would you like company for an errand?” “Would an invitation to dinner be welcome?” Make it easy to decline. A caring invitation includes respect for someone else’s preferences.

Someone may appreciate practical help more than a long conversation. Someone else may want a listening ear. You do not need the perfect words or an answer to every problem. You can start with attention, kindness and an offer you can follow through on.

Your well-being minute

The National Institute of Mental Health recommends making time for sleep, manageable priorities, enjoyable activities and supportive connections. Self-care looks different for different people. It does not replace professional help when you need it.

For this month’s private reflection, choose one routine you would like to make more workable. Maybe you want to prepare for the next morning, leave room for a quiet activity or ask someone to compare calendars with you. Pick a small action rather than a complete life makeover.

If you have concerns about your mental health, speak with a qualified healthcare professional. This newsletter offers general educational information, not diagnosis or individualized care.

Your voice matters

Michigan’s general election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. This is a nonpartisan reminder to use official information to check your voting options, registration, polling location and any deadlines that apply to you.

Visit the Michigan Secretary of State’s voting guide for current instructions and links to personalized voter information. Ask your local clerk if you need clarification. DRM is not endorsing a candidate or party through this reminder.

One small win before December

November is month eleven: two months remain in the year. You do not have to make up for every unfinished plan. Choose one useful thing you would like to move forward before December.

  1. Name it: What would feel meaningful and realistic?
  2. Shrink it: What is the first action you can finish in a short sitting?
  3. Make room: When can you do it, and what support might help?

Your win might be organizing documents, reviewing a budget, finishing a learning task or asking about training. Keep the goal private if you prefer. This activity has no score, public submission requirement or productivity trophy.

Early shopper or December sprinter?

Some people have already wrapped gifts. Others consider finding the tape a major milestone. Wherever you fall, decide what time and spending limits work for you.

A thoughtful note, a shared recipe, help with a task or a simple conversation can be meaningful. The goal here is connection, not pressure to buy. If you are budgeting for training, keep your essential expenses and commitments visible while making holiday plans.

Skills with purpose

Practical skills can connect personal goals with the needs of a community. At DRM, students can explore healthcare training and construction training. The right next step begins with understanding the program, schedule, full cost and requirements.

Not sure which healthcare option to explore? Read our CNA, phlebotomy, Medical Assistant and PCT comparison. For payment questions, start with the Tuition & Funding guide. Funding eligibility and awards must be confirmed by the relevant provider.

DRM has served Michigan since 2002. We welcome questions from future students, alumni, employers and referral partners. We do not promise a job, certification, income or funding award.

Carry one good thing into the month

Thanksgiving is November 26 this year, according to the official federal calendar. Confirm DRM’s office and class availability directly before planning a visit.

Before you leave this page, choose one thing: a person to contact, a question to ask or a small win to begin. We look forward to building this monthly space with our community.
