Re`Shane Lonzo

DRM International Learning Center started in 1997 as a mentoring center for at-risk teen girls, based on Re’Shane Lonzo’s personal experience. She wanted to be a role model for these young ladies and created a vehicle to provide the much needed programming. As a young teen, Re’Shane became pregnant. Rather than eliminate her “problem,” Re’Shane chose the difficult and selfless option to raise her son and become a shining role model for her helpless bundle of joy. At age 14, Re’Shane decided to continue and complete her high school education without the much desired support of mentors and counselors. She struggled through high school, maintaining excellent grades while working to support her son.

One of Re’Shane’s program graduates was in a terrible automobile accident and became incapacitated as a quadriplegic. Re’Shane assisted her in obtaining much needed care through her auto insurance agency. Her success with this case compelled Re’Shane to open her own agency, DRM Private Home Healthcare Providers. As the owner of a small home health care agency, Re’Shane realized it was good business practice to carefully train her workers about acceptable health care practices. She researched the industry and developed a program of education that helped her employees to stand out as excellent care providers. In fact, in 2006, after much cajoling from other industry agencies, DRM International Learning Center became a state licensed full service vocational school that offers a dynamic three-tiered development program for individuals wanting to enter the healthcare professions. Genesis’ programming includes basic home health aide training, advanced home health aide training, certified nurse assistant training, CNAplus™ Training, CPR/First Aid training, and employability training.

Re’Shane earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University and a MBA from Northwood University. She was also a certified Master Level Tutor with the National Tutorial Association and the Michigan Tutorial Association. She has teaching experience with Michigan State University’s Upward Bound Program, Michigan State University’s Summer Science Academy, Lansing Community College and the Lansing School District. Re’Shane works with Lansing area schools in designing mentoring and tutoring programs and served on the Board of Directors at Lakeside Christian School in East Lansing, New Life SIWD, a nonprofit aligned with helping underserved community residents, and for Women’s Opportunity House, a nonprofit established to bolster women who are struggling to exist.  She has also been a commencement speaker at several graduation ceremonies.
