The purpose of Restorative Nursing Training is to introduce the basic knowledge and skills necessary to assist residents to maintain, improve, and/or regain functional independence. Special emphasis will be placed upon skills needed to work in restorative or rehabilitative care in a rehabilitation or long term care facility. Graduates will also be eligible to sit for the Advanced Home Health Aide exam administered by the Michigan Home Health Association for national certification.
The purpose of the Hospice/End-of-Life Care Training is to introduce the basic knowledge and skills necessary to assist residents who are facing terminal conditions. Special emphasis will be placed upon skills needed to understand death and dying and the issues residents face at this stage: ethical issues, pain expectations, physiological changes, and how to care for self while caring for others.
The purpose of the Alzheimer's/Dementia Care Training is to introduce the basic knowledge and skills necessary to assist residents to care for persons with Alzheimer's and dementia. Special emphasis will be placed upon skills needed to understand dementia and recognize its symptoms, communicate effectively with persons with dementia, assist with activities of daily living, assess pain, and do activities with persons with dementia.
Students will learn how to write a resume that draws the attention of hiring managers, how to prepare themselves for an interview, what to expect in an interview, and how to sell themselves. Graduates of this class will become their own very effective commercial and the top candidate for every job. Included in the training is instruction on understanding the job market, resume writing, personal preparation for the interview process, interviewing expectations, and effective follow-up. Graduates from other DRM International Learning Center certification programs are automatically enrolled in the Employment Empowerment training program at no additional charge. Many of the individuals who attend training at DRM International Learning Center are in transition between careers. In most cases, they are stepping into the healthcare arena after many years in other industries and have been out of the job market for a while. The Employment Empowerment training program helps all graduates become highly marketable job candidates through focused training on personal development and self promotion. They learn to become their own spokesperson through an effective resume, interview, and follow-up. It’s more than just a resume.
DRM offers this class both for certification and recertification. This class will fulfill the nursing students’ core curriculum, as well as, the requirements for all healthcare providers like nurses, dentists, etc. Students will receive training in infant, child, and adult CPR and First Aid along with Blood Borne Pathogens. This is a certification class.
Graduates from other DRM International Learning Center certification programs are automatically enrolled in the Health Care Worker CPR training program as part of their tuition and certification. Included in the HHA and CNA training and available to the community are our Health Care CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens training programs. All health care professionals may take this course, which fulfills core curriculum requirements for nurses, care givers, therapists, emergency personnel, and more. In addition, community residents and other professionals who are required to gain CPR certification may take this course to meet those requirements. Additional certification training is also provided for the communicable diseases concern of Blood Borne Pathogens.
